Poppies and Poetry: Memories of World War 1
15th -17th May 2015 – 11am-2pm
Join Sylvia Troon, Scotland’s premier puppeteer storyteller, as she tells the wonderful story of an Argyll soldier and his family back at home during World War One.
Sylvia uses interactive storytelling sessions to engage the children in our regimental history, and brings our soldiers to life in beautiful, miniature detail!
Interactive arts and crafts project
After Sylvia’s story, the children will be lead in an interactive arts and crafts project, where they can create their own poppies using materials we have here at the museum.
Did you have a great-grandfather serve in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders during WWI?
Or was your grandmother at home raising the family whilst the men went off to war?
Bring your own memories
If children and families wish to bring their own memories of WWI and local history to the event, we would love to see treasured items or objects on the day.
No need to book, just come along! Entrance to the museum itself is free, though Stirling Castle charges for entrance.
Generously supported by Museums Galleries Scotland as part of the Festival of Museums
