Our research service has been temporarily suspended whilst the Museum is closed. In any event, if you are looking for personal service records, these are not held in the Museum.
- For pre WW1 and WW1 records there are various websites that can help. Check out the National Archives site at nationalarchives.gov.uk for further information
- For post-1920 records contact gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records. Please be aware that due to demand there may be significant delays in processing your request.
- For soldiers who died whilst serving during WW1 and WW2, the Commonwealth War Graves website cwgc.org may be able to provide more information.
“Unheard Voices” Oral History Project
The story of The Argylls is not just the story of the soldiers. The regimental family was an important support network during a soldier’s service.
The Museum is interested in recording the previously unheard stories from wives and children of Argylls. If you would like to share your story, contact 01786 448041 or email@example.com for more information.
