Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (5 SCOTS).

In 2012, a series of measures to reduce the size of the British Army were announced by the Government; these included the reduction of 5 SCOTS to a single company by 2013.

In 2013, 5 SCOTS conduct various parades, events and celebrations during “Scotland Week” (10th– 14th June) and “Battalion Week” (25th-29th June) to say a massive thank you to local communities and families for their support before the draw-down process began. On 28th June 2013, Her Majesty The Queen attended 5 SCOTS Final Parade at Howe Barracks at Canterbury, Kent in England where she met families, was introduced to members of Balaklava Company and joined 5 SCOTS in a photograph.

On the 29th June 2013, Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland was formed.
