In June 2010, ex-Argyll Archie MacLaine, who now lives in Canada, was presented with a Melvin Jones Fellowship by the Lions Clubs International Foundation.  This Foundation helps meet humanitarian needs in communities around the world, part of which Archie has made a considerable contribution to.  Well done Archie.

My plan is to continue to raise a huge amount of money primarily for the Alzheimer Research Trust, and provide some much-needed equipment for a small local group that has been of great help to me over the past couple of years.  We had a FABULOUS day, a sensational team effort and I am so proud of the Crew and how they helped me achieve a dream ...... we rowed a distance of 20 miles upstream and 7 locks, with barely a blister and no crabs.

An Argyll takes up residence at Windsor Castle

On 2 June 2010, Colonel David Steele MBE was installed as one of the thirteen Military Knights of Windsor.   Splendidly attired in scarlet tail coat, blue trousers, crimson sash and cocked hat with red and white feathers, Colonel Steele took the ancient oath in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
