Regimental Association
Annual Update, 2011
The Association continues to function throughout our Branches in West of Scotland, Inverclyde, Grangemouth, Stirling, Dunoon and Cowal, Manchester, London, Plymouth and Canterbury. London and Plymouth are low on numbers but still play a valuable part.
The Scottish Branches Dinner was held in the Queens Hall in Dunoon and organised by the Dunoon and Cowal Branch. Again this was a well organised event which had 150 in attendance and won the Branch a vote of thanks at the recent Executive Committee Meeting. Also of note was the excellent Balaklava Lunch organised and managed by the Grangemouth Branch, and again this event boasted a full house. My thanks go to Jim Bain and Adam McKenzie for pulling this together.
The Regimental Reunion for 2011 will be a combined effort between the Battalion, Veterans and Argyll Cadets and will take place at the Stirling Military Show which is being held at Bridge of Allan in Strathallan Park. This will include a Parade by both Veterans and the Battalion who are also celebrating their homecoming from operations in Afghanistan. After the parade, there will be a Military Show with Arena events and side stalls, so fun for all the family. The parade will form up at 10.45am in Station Road and will finish with a march past at Strathallan Park. A beer tent will be available to allow our Veterans the ability to share comradeship with their brother soldiers.
All Branches continue to hold annual events, get togethers and meetings. In addition they continue to collect for charity events, Erskine Hospital, Poppyscotland, MacMillan Nurses and the Regimental Museum is of more recent note. We continue to support local communities throughout our area in Armed Forces Day events and have a commendable turnout for Remembrance Day Parades. They will also be involved in the Stirling Military Show and the Homecoming Parades being planned for June.
