Argylls

Enquiries - By Post and/or Email

Historical and genealogical enquiries should be supported with as much information as possible, such as:

• name of the soldier
• soldier’s regimental number. This can be found on documents or medals (except World War Two medals),
• when and where the soldier served; and,
• any other information.

The archive does not hold personal service records and varies in the amount of information on any given subject or soldier: therefore, it may not be possible to find a particular piece of information.

Donations
An enquiry by post and email, incurs a minimum donation of £10.00.

The Museum is funded mainly by donations; and regrettably, in order to offer this service, it has become necessary to introduce a minimum requirement. Some enquiries may incur a higher donation, such as those that involve:

• postage and packaging,
• photocopying,
• reproduction of images; and,
• items for commercial and financial gain.

In this case, we will contact you before we start the search.

The Museum cannot undertake a search and/or answer your enquiry until we receive your donation, which is non-refundable – even if the search is unsuccessful and we are unable to help in any way.

If you are unsure as to whether we will be able to help with your enquiry, please feel free to contact us through our General Enquiries; however, a donation will still be necessary should you wish us to continue.
