The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders,1881-2006

Modern Soldiers, Iraq, c 2004

The Cardwell Reforms of 1881 completely reorganised the British Army and one of the results was the amalgamation of the 91st Argyllshire Highlanders with the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders to form The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise’s). We aim to tell you something of the history of this regiment, from its formation until 2006, the date of another momentous military reform, the formation of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
