The 93rd Sutherland Highlanders, 1799-1881

The Thin Red Line, by Robert Gibb, 1881

The 93rd Sutherland Highlanders was raised in 1799; and was probably the last Clan regiment, as the soldiers were recruited almost exclusively from the estates of the Countess of Sutherland.
We aim to tell you something of the history of this distinguished regiment, from its formation until its amalgamation with the 91st Argyllshire Highlanders in 1881.
