Music has always played an important part in the lives of soldiers; indeed it is not that long ago that they were ordered entirely by the sound of the bugle call - telling them when to get up, eat, come back to barracks and of course, go into battle. Scottish infantry regiments may have lost their own individual military bands, but each regular battalion in The Royal Regiment of Scotland can still be inspired by the skirl of the pipes and the beat of the drum from their Pipes and Drums.
