Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (Balaklava Company), was formed on 29th June 2013. It is part of The Royal Regiment of Scotland which consists of:
- 1 SCOTS The Royal Scots Borderers, which was an amalgamation of 1st Battalion, The Royal Scots and 1st Battalion, The King’s Own Scottish Borders,
- 2 SCOTS The Royal Highland Fusiliers
- 3 SCOTS The Black Watch
- 4 SCOTS The Highlanders
- Balaklava Company, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion
- 6 SCOTS 52nd Lowland
- 7 SCOTS 51st Highland
Balaklava Company is tasked with State and Ceremonial Duties in Scotland such as mounting the Guard at Holyrood Palace for Her Majesty the Queen and at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Until 2014, they will remain under the operational Command of 16 Air Assault and are currently deployed on a two month Operational Tour of the Falkland Islands; however, they will also conduct mission specific training in preparation for the new ceremonial role within 51 Infantry Brigade.
Balaklava Company is stationed at Canterbury, in Kent, England but will move permanently to Edinburgh in 2014.
